Laurentian Valley borders on the Ottawa River, the city of Pembroke and the town of Petawawa. The township comprises the communities of Alice, Cotnam Island, Davis Mills, Fairview, Forest Lea, French Settlement, Gorr Subdivision, Government Road, Greenwood, Hiam, Huckabones Corners, Indian, Kathmae Siding, Locksley, Lower Stafford, Micksburg, Pleasant View, Shady Nook, Stonebrook and Trautrim Subdivision.

With a population of approximately 10,000 persons and 3,800 households, Laurentian Valley has approximately 20 kms of waterfront and covers an area of approximately 550 square kilometres.

The Township has strong agricultural and forest industry roots that have grown to include a semi-urban hub of residential and commercial development surrounding the City of Pembroke.

In 2021, there were 148 homes sold in Laurentian Valley at an average price of $401,050, which is up from the five-year average of $293,306. The typical home in Laurentian Valley sold in just over 20 days in 2021.

A brief summary of Chalk River, Ontario and the local real estate market.

With a population just under 3,000, Laurentian Hills was formed in the year 2000, when the United Townships of Rolph, Buchanan, Wylie and McKay and the Village of Chalk River were merged. The Village of Chalk River is located approximately 21 km northwest of Petawawa and 10 km east of Deep River.

The town consists mainly of detached houses with some townhouses and an apartment building. Local services include a convenience store and a gas station. The Chalk River library, the Lions Hall, and the Legion all play an important part in the community.

Local recreational activities include hiking, four wheeling, and biking. In the winter, snowmobile and cross-country ski trails can be enjoyed. A skating rink and baseball diamond are also present.

Major employers include Bubble Technology Industries, the Canadian Forest Service which maintains the Petawawa Research Forest nearby, Base Petawawa, and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). The town has historically been an attractive, more affordable option, for military members of nearby Base Petawawa due to its close proximity to the base.

In 2021, there were 90 homes sold in Laurentian Hills at an average price of $314,712, which is up from the five-year average of $231,128. The typical home in Laurentian Hills sold in just over 33 days in 2021.

A brief summary of Deep River, Ontario and the local real estate market.

Located along the Ottawa River, Deep River lies about 200 kilometres north-west of Ottawa on the Trans-Canada Highway opposite the Laurentian Mountains and the Province of Quebec. The name Deep River purportedly derives from the fact that the Ottawa River reaches a depth of 402 feet just outside the township.

The primary industry centres on research at the Chalk River location of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) about 10 km east of Deep River on Highway 17. The facility is named for, and primarily accessed via, the nearby town Chalk River, although the site is technically in Deep River. In recent years, the town has also become a popular, more affordable option, for military members of nearby Base Petawawa. Deep River has a population of just over 4,000.

In 2021, there were 144 homes sold in Deep River at an average price of $311,282, which is up from the five-year average of $224,278. The typical home in Deep River sold in under 24 days in 2021.

A brief summary of Pembroke, Ontario and the local real estate market for April 2022

Pembroke is the largest commercial centre between North Bay and Ottawa with a population just under 14,000. Historically, forestry and farming formed the backbone of the local economy and remain important today. Base Petawawa in nearby Petawawa and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories in Chalk River are also regional employers.

Pembroke has a 600 plus seat community arts facility, Festival Hall Center of the Arts.[6] The facility is operated by a Consortium consisting of The City of Pembroke and the Townships of Petawawa and Laurentian Valley. This facility hosts various local productions and top Canadian artists during the year.

Pembroke also is host to the annual Silver Stick Regional Minor League Hockey Tournament, which brings in several hundred children and youth on weekends in November and early December for regional qualifying games. In addition, Pembroke has been the home of the Pembroke Lumber Kings Junior A Hockey Club since 1958.

Downtown Pembroke has experienced somewhat a rebirth over the past several years attracting many small businesses including specialty shops, restaurants, and eateries.
